how could I with my hands upon your breasts
deny the light that shines within our chests
how not hear when together locked
the warning crowing of the cock

extract from Sopolyrimu V4-087: "how could I"

World's first stand-alone spoken word on iTunes

Born in Bristol, UK, he graduated from Exeter University (UK), was then awarded a 2-year Creative Writing Scholarship at Syracuse University (USA), and back in UK was awarded a further 2-year writing grant.

After managing his own book business in UK for 10 years, he migrated to Australia where he worked in the photographic industry, arts management and freelance writing in Sydney, NSW.

During this time in Sydney, he completed his first major novel Out of Nowhere - the musical life of Warne Marsh (published 2002, reprinted 2008).

This book was part of the reason he secured a position as a professor at a University in Japan, where he lived, taught and wrote for another 10 years.

Since then his time has been spent in UK, USA, and Australia and he goes back to Japan as often as possible.

He has also completed a major 5-part novel, the first book of which - Note for Note Book One: Plough - was published in 2008, and the second volume Growth in 2009, and 6 volumes of poetry/song, which he calls Sopolyrimu (songs, poems, lyrics for music).

Each volume of Sopolyrimu contains one hundred songs, and the first two Volumes (Songs from the Villa and Songs from down the Lane) were published in 2009.  Volume 3 (Songs like fallen Apples) will be published in 2010.

In August 2009 he set out London (UK) and Paris to perform his sopolyrimu accompanied by improvised music and dance.  He also married Christine Ogilvy in Paris on November 23 2009 and on January 14 2010 in Christchurch (NZ) and settled in Eymet (France) in April 2010.  He is now working on the seventh volume of Sopolyrimu (Songs from under the Pump) and a major work of poetic fiction to be called D-tours or one man's final 100 years, more or less.
